The Scariest Experience that I have had? Hmm.. lets see.. Horror movies, roller coasters, walking on a ledge with steep drops on both sides, waking up in a cremation ground, being fired at with automatic weapons, witnessing the aftermath of a human bomb, they were all scary!
Having served in almost all types of areas, I can say that I have gone through some really tricky situations. Be it snow clad mountains, terrorism affected areas or vagaries of mother nature, every place had its own experience.
But the scariest experience(s)? They came from somewhere that I never expected them to crop up from! They were when I came across something about me that was hidden from view. One moment I was enjoying the conversation, laughing away, denying to see and – wham! it would hit me!
Be it acceptance of Childhood Trauma, my Socially Unacceptable behaviour, my Suppressed Emotions, Trauma stored in the body, my Fear Of Future or anything else, every step has been a painful and scary one!
But when I look back, I am amazed at how far I have come from the socially awkward, self-absorbed and emotionally cold person that I was!
In no way am I conveying that the journey is over. As there are Miles To Go yet, but it has been a most shaking yet Satisfying journey. And although I know that the deeper I go within, the more painful it’s going to be, Let it happen!
Complacency, Comfort and Fear – these are all like substances that stop us from being True To Self and Being Authentic.
