Throat Chakra (विशुद्ध)

Throat Chakra Vishuddha: The Voice of Truth and Ether

At the hollow of your throat spins a turquoise wheel – clear, luminous, and vibrating with your truth. This is the throat chakra Vishuddha. The energetic bridge between your heart and mind. It governs not just what you say, but how honestly you live your truth. In silence or in speech, Vishuddha asks: “Can you sing your soul?”

Your throat chakra Vishuddha, is the energetic space of clear communication, self-expression, and resonance with your inner knowing. It governs the words you say and the ones you hold back. The stories you tell and the silences you sit in. It’s your soul’s microphone; amplifying your  authenticity to the world.

When the Vishuddha energy center is balanced, you speak clearly and listen deeply. You express what is real with grace. whether through words, art, music or stillness. You feel heard. Understood. Aligned. When imbalanced, you may fear judgment, suppress your truth, or overcompensate with constant talking.
You might feel misunderstood, creatively blocked, or even have physical symptoms like throat tightness, thyroid issues, or chronic sore throat. Blockages in Throat Chakra Vishuddha energy center often arise from childhood silencing, shaming, secrets, or environments where honesty felt unsafe. Balancing the throat chakra is to reclaim your voice.
To honor your truth. To speak with clarity, and live with resonance. Because when your voice flows freely, your soul is no longer caged.

Nyāsa

Nyāsa (न्यास) literally means ‘placing’ . It is the act of mentally (and often physically) placing mantras, elements, deities, or energies into specific parts of the body to consecrate it as a temple of the divine.

  • Sit in a comfortable meditative posture.

  • Take a few deep breaths to center yourself.

  • Touch or simply focus your awareness on the Throat Chakra Vishuddha area.

  • Recite the mantra(s):

    • “Om ākāśāya namah” (Element space, I bow to you)

    • “Om vācam sthāpaya kanṭhe me satyam.”
(please, place the Truth in my throat as speech.)

    • “Om Sadāshivāya ca Śākinyai ca namah, sthāpaya kanṭhe me vācam.”
(I bow to Sadāshiva and Shākini, please place clarity and truth in my throat.)

  • Visualize the element and/ or deity, and feel the quality of that chakra awaken within you.

  • At each step, you can lightly touch the spot (or just hover your palm there if preferred), visualising the sound and energy.

Disclaimer: The mantras given here are modern Sanskrit constructions, intended as poetic, nyāsa-style invocations for meditation. These are not scripturally attested Vedic or Tantric mantras. These have been  constructed to fit the spirit of nyāsa for an English-speaking audience who might not be versed in bīja or more cryptic Tantric syllables.
